The Story of Light

The history of light is, in essence, the history of vision itself. From the moment of the Big Bang, when photons flooded the chaos, light began its eternal journey. Since then, it has never ceased to serve as our sole witness to the existence of the world.

Light has deeply influenced human thought and, consequently, every civilization—from the Far East and the Arab world to Ancient Greece, Rome, and, of course, the Christian tradition. At the same time, both the arts and the sciences have continually sought to master it. We encounter it in poetry, painting, music, sculpture, theatre, and photography, culminating in the seventh art—cinema—where we experience its ultimate celebration.

Countless scientists have devoted their lives to understanding its nature. Galileo Galilei, Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton, Johannes Kepler, James Clerk Maxwell, Albert Einstein, and many others have largely shaped the way we understand light today. For me, this respect is not expressed merely through words, but demonstrated through the precision of my work. A Personal Responsibility

This sense of duty is the invaluable legacy of my father, Michalis. Although he is no longer with us, he taught me that integrity in one’s work is the only true foundation upon which you can look others in the eye. At the same time, it is the promise I make every day to my wife and children—my own personal light—who constantly remind me why it is worth striving for excellence.
